Natural Health Remedies: Chicken Soup Recipe for a Cold

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 onion
  • 2-3 Asian chilies
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 whole chicken on the bone
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 4 cups water
  • Oregano, salt, paprika and turmeric to taste

DirectionsIn a large pot, stir fry the onion, garlic and chilies in the sesame oil. Once the vegetables start to brown, add the chicken to the mix. Stir fry the chicken until it is pale pink. Add water and broth, and add in the seasonings. Let the soup come to a boil, and then set it to simmer for 30 minutes, but you can let it go longer, if you like. The bone marrow is a good source of iron, which the body craves when sick. The heat in the chilis, garlic, and onions will help the body break down mucus and congestion. The broth will keep you hydrated and fill your body with nutrients to speed your healing time.

Natural Health Remedies: Juice for Nasal Congestion

Make this fresh juice with your juicer to help get rid of nasal congestion.

  • 2 apples (with skin)
  • 1 pineapple
Add in two teaspoons of honey, mix and enjoy!

Natural Health Remedies: Steam Inhaler for Nasal Congestion

Make your own steam inhaler by boiling three cups of water and adding a couple sprigs of rosemary and/or eucalyptus. Do it a few times a day to help loosen mucus.
